Verification votes, the communication must be done immediately and in front of the class

There are some teachers who do not communicate the grade of the oral or written test in front of the whole class, thinking that privacy should be guaranteed regardless of transparency. In addition to recording the grade on the electronic register in real time, the teacher must communicate it to the student clearly and in front of the whole class.

Privacy between school desks: the Guarantor speaks

The Privacy Guarantor has deemed it useful to provide, since 2011, clarifications on the correct application of the legislation on the protection of personal data within schools, also for the purpose of developing in the school community (which includes pupils, families and school staff ) an increasing awareness of one’s rights and duties.

In this regard it is useful to remember that the Privacy Guarantor writes that the marks of the class assignments and the questions, the results of the ballots or of the State exams are public.

Information on academic performance is subject to a transparency regime and the regime of their knowledge is established by the Ministry of Education. However, when publishing grades and exams in the scoreboards, it is necessary that the institute avoids providing, even indirectly, information on the health conditions of the students: the reference to the “differentiated tests” supported by disabled students, for example , must not be inserted in the displayboards, but must be indicated only in the certificate to be issued to the student.

It is of fundamental importance to specify that in communicating or publishing a vote there must be no trace of the different methods of administration of the task or methods of conducting an oral interview and the consequent differentiated assessments. How any uses of compensatory and dispensing measures should not be revealed, adopted in particular with students with ascertained and certified specific learning disorders. Basically, the pupils of the class must not know the cases of BES and all the pupils who have a personalized teaching plan

The marks of the checks, immediate and transparent

Current legislation on student assessment says that every pupil has the right to a transparent and timely assessment.

The concept of transparency is due yes to the aspect of communication, which must take place publicly in front of all students in the class and timely means that a written test should be correct and evaluated in a reasonable time that does not exceed 10 or 15 days. For an evaluation of an oral interview, the moment of conclusion of the verification is defined as timeliness. Transparency also manifests itself with the clarity of the grade according to an evaluation grid prepared before the test and made public to all students.

Before starting the verification test, a student must know the evaluation grid that the teacher will use to define the grade.
